Haters gon' hate

Haters gon' hate

As I make another MAJOR life transition (just in time to leave my twenties and enter my thirties!) it’s amazing how supportive many of my close friends and relatives have been. Sadly, however, I have also been shocked by some of the incredibly condescending, harsh or UNSUPPORTIVE comments I’ve received from people whom I considered to be in my “inner circle.” So, you know what? I’m going to share some of those comments here with you. Why? Because each and every one of us deals with this from time to time and it is important to NOT take other people’s criticism or condescending tone to heart. Stay focused on what YOU want out of life and you’ll be fine…and so will they. Really. Things people have said over the years to discourage me from being, well, me: You shouldn’t use profanity — in person, in emails, on your website, or in the designs that are in your portfolio. It’s unprofessional and turns off many potential employers. Before you make the decision to leave a job, you’d better make sure it’s a good career move for you. You work for a special company and you might not find another job like this again. I used to share some of your same dreams and ambitions — but then I realized they just aren’t practical. You can’t get married, buy a house, settle down, and raise a family if you’re out traveling the world all the time or trying to make it big in a huge coastal city. The grass isn’t always greener. Better to just stay where you are. Your love...
